VIGLACERA TIEN SON SUPPORTS GREEN SUMMER DESIGN WORKSHOP 2026, CONNECTING MATERIALS WITH IDEAS FOR TOMORROW’S CITIES
On August 9, 2026, Viglacera Tien Son Joint Stock Company joined the closing ceremony of Green Summer Design Workshop 2026 as Diamond Sponsor. The workshop was organized by Architecture Magazine of the Vietnam Association of Architects in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City.
With the theme “Architecture and Landscape Design for Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Around Ho Chi Minh City Metro Stations,” the program gave the next generation of architects a practical setting in which to explore the challenges facing urban development.

From Metro stations to new ideas for the city
Green Summer Design Workshop 2026 brought together more than 120 students and around 30 lecturers, experts and mentors from Vietnam and abroad. Student teams studied 10 real-world sites around Metro stations in Ho Chi Minh City, assessing existing conditions and developing planning, architecture and landscape proposals based on the TOD model.
What set the workshop apart was its focus on real urban challenges. Metro stations were considered not just as transport hubs, but in relation to public spaces, landscapes, buildings and the communities around them.
Through discussion sessions, expert reviews and direct feedback from specialists, teams developed and refined their proposals during an intensive program. The process gave students an opportunity to strengthen their design thinking, problem-solving and presentation skills—capabilities essential to architectural practice.
When materials become part of the design process
As Diamond Sponsor, Viglacera Tien Son contributed not only financial support but also brought its building materials closer to the students’ creative process.

In contemporary architecture, materials are more than a final finishing layer. Their size, color, surface and applications can become part of a design’s visual language, shaping how a space is experienced.
In large-scale developments such as TOD, materials can feature across many layers of the urban environment—from plazas, walkways and landscapes to public spaces and buildings around the stations.
The workshop gave students the chance to explore Viglacera Tien Son products firsthand and consider how they might be incorporated into specific design concepts. It also gave the company an opportunity to hear fresh perspectives from future architects and gain a better understanding of the evolving demands of contemporary architecture.
With a diverse portfolio spanning ceramic and porcelain tiles, large-format tiles, wood-look tiles and premium materials, Viglacera Tien Son continues to expand the applications of its products across different types of projects while building stronger connections with architects and educational institutions.
Supporting the next generation of architects
At the closing ceremony, the expert jury recognized several outstanding proposals. Group 5 received First Prize; Group 2 took Second Prize; Groups 10 and 7 each received Third Prize; and six Encouragement Prizes went to Groups 1, 3, 4, 6, 8 and 9.
Each project offered a different response to the challenge of developing urban areas around Metro lines. Together, they reflected a generation of young designers actively seeking new ways to shape the places where people will live in the future.
For Viglacera Tien Son, supporting Green Summer Design Workshop 2026 is part of a broader effort to connect universities, experts, architects and industry—and to bring building materials closer to education and design practice.
A material reaches its full potential when it is considered in the context of a space and its architectural story. The exchange between materials, ideas and young architects today may be the starting point for the new urban spaces of tomorrow.
